About The Course:
The Practical Microbiology Online Course is a practical workshop that is covering all the techniques that are used in a typical microbiological, quality control department including:
- Choosing media
- Preparing the media
- Sterilizing the media
- The aseptic technique
- Preparing of agar plates
- Positive and negative controls
- Enumeration of bacteria
- Maintenance of bacterial cultures
- Water testing
- Environmental testing
- Gram staining
The course also includes a module on Good Micro Laboratory Practice.
The content consists of short videos of the techniques, some theory and workshop exercises. Our courses not only provide the information, if followed, to comply with the guidelines but also assesses the competence of the Microbiologist. Therefore you will have workshop exercises to complete in order to ascertain that you have grasped the main points outlined in the course. The exercises must then be submitted to us for marking. Once the final assessment has been completed and passed, you will receive our Certificate of Competency.
Course Modules:
The Good Microbiological Practice module is very important. Auditors from the regulators such SAHPRA or FDA of GMP, BRC auditors or ISO 9001, or ISO 17025 auditors and auditors of your clients that your company manufactures for and if you are manufacturing for major retail supermarkets their auditors will audit your Quality Control laboratory to determine whether the good practices required of the mentioned standards are in place. All these good practices are covered in detail within this module.
What you’ll need:
Our online course requires a good internet connection as the entire course is online and your notebook and pen to take notes as you learn.
The assessments will require access to a microbiology laboratory and the availability of the following:
